Are you unsure about your family's next financial move?
Good news: Physicians can
take control of their financial lives and make steady progress to
reach their family's most important goals.
Are you a surgeon, medical practitioner or physician family
member who could use a little help when it's time to make financial
decisions?
You want to be smart with your money but...
-
You don't have time to do your own financial planning.
Your daily routine demands most of your energy, forcing you
to put off planning until tomorrow.
-
You're not familiar with the products,
the services or the specialists that could
improve your financial standing, so it's hard to know what to
buy or whether you're getting a
fair deal.
-
You're facing a complicated financial situation, and
things seem to get more complex all the time. You know you can't
afford to make a big mistake.
Wouldn't it be great if
there was a program designed to help you win control of your
finances and make decisions that actually lead
to a better quality of life?
Introducing Advisor On Call: Planning at the speed of life
Advisor On Call gives you priority access to a Certified Financial
Planner™ who understands your financial situation and has the advice you need,
when you need it.
With Advisor On Call, you will:
-
Save time and money by selecting the right financial
products, services and specialists to improve the quality of
your family's finances.
-
Stay focused on the "big picture"
in your
financial life without losing sight of the finer details.
-
See the path to achieve your goals.
Whether it's college, retirement, a second home, or a
well-deserved sabbatical, you'll know what it takes to prepare
for the future.
Advisor On Call transforms the old-fashioned,
one-time
financial plan into a streamlined process that delivers just-in-time advice to
physicians on the move.
Your colleagues are making smarter moves.
Shouldn't you?
Here are some real life examples of how we've helped people like
you.
-
A 50-something surgeon struggled to find cash to make
his down payment on a new medical office building. In a 4-minute
telephone consultation, we found a way for him to come up with
$100,000 without getting a loan. Instead of missing a great
opportunity, he completed his buy-in only three days later.
-
A mid-career cardiologist heard from another advisor that
she could not get any more disability insurance.. In a
10-minute call, we arranged for her to meet with an insurance specialist
who not only increased her overall
benefit by $48,000 per year, but reduced her premiums and improved the
quality of her coverage.
-
A well-mannered oncologist doubted our advice
to set up a home equity line of credit, saying there was absolutely no need
for it. Fortunately, he did it anyway. A few months later he got a
surprise tax bill for $64,000, and used the line of credit to make is payments
on time.
-
A geriatrician overlooked a new employer benefit buried in
her open enrollment handbook. Even though it was more than an inch thick, we
dug through the book to discover a savings account
that saves her more than $4,000 each year in
taxes.
-
An anesthesiologist and his wife on the edge of divorce
wanted our help to get their financial life together. The couple seemed to
have problems communicating in areas beyond personal finance, so we referred
them to a family counselor. Over time, we helped them develop a more unified
vision for their financial future, and we'd like to believe we
helped them strengthen their marriage.
What's the big difference between plain-old planning and
Advisor On Call?
Most financial people force you to waste time with
multiple in-office meetings and then—a month or two later—they hand you a
dense, confusing book they call "your financial plan" that contains hundreds of
numbers and too many tasks for your to-do list.
Advisor On Call is faster, not just better. It divides the tasks of
financial planning—goals, information, analysis, discussion and action—into
smaller, more manageable steps that slip easily onto and off of your to-do list.
What else makes Advisor On Call a better way to get advice?
Advisor On Call is a fee-for-service arrangement delivered
by an independent financial
advisor.
Being independent means we're free to recommend any product
or service we believe is right for your family. Being compensated on a
fee-only basis—not commissions—means we zero out the conflicts of interest
that go with sales-driven advice. We do not sell product and we do not accept
referral fees.
How the Advisor On Call service works
-
We focus on the one aspect of your financial life that
needs to be addressed right now. In
person or in teleconference, we assess your current financial condition,
prioritize the aspects that need immediate attention, and begin working with
you to plan one particular part of your future or resolve one specific issue
you are facing at this very moment, which might include:
-
Business transitions (starting to practice, buying in as
a partner, investing in a building)
-
Life transitions (birth, marriage, death, disability)
-
Estate planning, wills & trusts (coordinated with your
attorney)
-
Tax planning (coordinated with your tax specialist)
-
Intra-family money matters & communications
-
Borrowing, liabilities & debt reduction
-
Asset protection & financial self defense
-
Second homes & personal real estate purchases
-
Retirement & tax-deferred saving
-
Creating a lifetime income during retirement
-
Sabbatical & vacation planning
-
Income, employment & employee benefits
-
Personal insurance & risk management
-
Education planning & paying for college
-
Expenses, budgeting & spending plans
-
Charitable giving & philanthropy
Note: Investment management is a separate service:
ProActive Portfolio.
-
We guide you through do-able homework assignments that
make it easy to navigate the five steps of financial achievement:
- Take aim at a meaningful goal
- Build awareness by gathering and organizing information
- Analyze your options and alternatives to uncover the pros and
cons
- Find the answer so you know what move to make next
- Take action to move toward your goal
-
We continue to encourage your progress by guiding you one step at
a time through the other aspects of your financial life according to the order
and priority
you choose. It's how we help you build, maintain and enjoy financial security.
-
We re-focus on the Big Picture at least once each year
with you. In person or in
teleconference, we examine the
internal and external forces that impact your personal and financial life.
We look at changes that may occur in the foreseeable future and discuss how
they might impact your overall financial strategy.
-
We're ready to help you because we're on call. Between annual
updates, e answer questions, reply to email and return phone calls
promptly.
No long term obligation required
When you choose Advisor On Call, you may come to work with us as your advisor for life,
but you are not bound by any long term commitment. Advisor On Call is a
month-to-month engagement and you can cancel any time you choose.
We’re constantly striving to improve the service we render to physician
families like yours. When
we find something about our business that does not seem to work for physicians,
we make it right. Maybe that's why most of our clients have come by way of
referral from satisfied colleagues, attorneys and accountants.
Since the very first physician engaged our practice, we have never—not once—had
a physician who terminated their engagement with us because they were unhappy.
A smarter way to pay
Utley Financial Planning is an independent, fee-only advisory
firm. That means we're free to recommend any strategy, product or service we
believe is right for you without the conflicts of interest that come from
commission-driven sales.
Fees for Advisor On Call are $400 per month. Being on retainer
means we have an incentive to maintain a strong
relationship that helps you make meaningful progress over the long haul,
aligning our interests with yours.
